So I’m 6 months into ClicksAndLeads.com now and what a 6 months it has been! The last couple of months have largely been spend in and out of hospitals, looking after a very dear friend who’s been having some life challenging health issues. Thank heavens for laptops and 3G dongles, I say! Apart from being able to work, it’s meant that hours of waiting for doctors, hours of waiting while he slept, just hours of hospital tedium between the odd drama has been bearable.
If you want to go back and read how all this got started, here are all the links:
Despite all that distraction, ClicksAndLeads has hit the magical $10,000 a month recurring revenue (MRR) and that means we have a six-figure turnover plus now. Six figures in six months, I realised!
How did this happen?
After a slow start in January and February where I was doing things the “old school” way, with a bit of networking and some referrals, I suddenly had this epiphany about where my referrals were coming from and how to get more of them.
Adrian Savage is a talented UK Infusionsoft Consultant who knows a bit about funnels. He’s pretty bloody good at them, in fact. And when he’s finished consulting with a client about setting up their marketing funnels, he was then sending them my way, because once you have a funnel, you need leads to go into it, to test your assumptions. Lots of them.
I’d first met Adrian a couple of years previously when I invested in Infusionsoft and found the coach I requested knew nothing about Campaign Builder, the very reason I’d got IS in the first place. Adrian and his lovely wife Insa coached me through it.
When I realised that Adrian’s clients were my clients, I did a bit of research on how many Infusionsoft consultants there were in the UK and I was astonished to find that there were hundreds if not thousands. What about all those in the USA, Australia, Canada and there must be a few in New Zealand too!
Added to the WordPress web designers, plus the independent Hubspot, Marketo and Salesforce consultants, well, now I had my target market on Facebook – the people to run my own ads to. Those whose clients were my clients.
Also around this time, I read the book “Predictable Revenue” which just drove home the importance for me – as well as for every business – of having a continual stream of largely automated prospects coming and knocking on the door of my business. I also started using the Close.io prospect and sales tracking software and I fell in love with the high energy yet thoughtful “Startup Chat” podcast with Steli Efti and Hiten Shah, which fuelled my ambitions to take this business bigger than just a lifestyle business.
Those ads started rolling in March (albeit on a tiny budget) and quickly started bringing in potential customers globally as it turns out that when a business invests in a CRM, they often like the page on Facebook.
Even more powerful were my own re-marketing ads which followed visitors to my website around on Facebook, reminding them about my services.
Mix all that up with a few powerful images that really stood out in the Timeline and I was really in business now. Here’s one of my most successful ads from that period (click to enlarge).
